Ontario Trillium Benefit

The Government of Ontario announced the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) in its March 2011 budget. The OTB combines three existing credits into one payment. Starting in July 2012, the Ontario energy and property tax credit, the Northern Ontario energy credit, and the Ontario sales tax credit will be combined and delivered in one monthly payment. The OTB payments will be issued on the 10th of each month, starting on July 10, 2012.

All OTB payments for July 2012 to June 2013 will be issued monthly, with one exception. If your annual OTB entitlement is $240 or less, you will get one payment instead of monthly payments.

The OTB program is legislated and funded by the Province of Ontario. The Canada Revenue Agency administers this program on behalf of the province.
